From iconic sports cars to futuristic EVs, Porsche vehicles are the ultimate expressions of fine German design and impeccable engineering.

If you’re looking to inject exhilarating fun into your driving, here’s everything you need to know about the Porsche Sport Response feature.
Unleash Instant Power With Porsche Sport Response Technology
What Does the Sport Response Button Do?
With their rich racing legacy, Porsche vehicles offer racetrack-inspired engineering and design for driving enthusiasts to enjoy without having to travel to Germany’s Autobahn. With the simple push of a button, the German automaker’s driver-centric Sport Response technology takes signature Porsche performance and gives it a significant, albeit short-lived, shot in the arm.
Whether you need a burst of speed on a freeway on-ramp or a powerful boost in the passing lane to safely navigate around other vehicles and reach a comfortable cruising speed, the Sport Response function is designed to deliver performance on demand. More affectionately known as the push-to-pass button, this innovative feature gives you the confidence that comes with knowing that exhilarating acceleration is ready to activate right at your fingertips.
How Does Sport Response Technology Work?
On Porsches equipped with the Sport Chrono package, you’ll find an auxiliary knob located on the lower right side of the steering wheel column. This rotary switch allows you to toggle between your vehicle’s different driving modes. By pressing the button in the center of the knob, you will activate the Sport Response feature, which instantaneously delivers an intense, 20-second boost in your Porsche’s acceleration and responsiveness.
In gas engine Porsches, the push-to-pass feature works by engaging the optimal gear for maximum torque, boosting the throttle, and priming the engine with a higher rev ceiling, all within a 20-second window. In all-electric Porsche models like the Taycan, the Sport Response feature can unlock an additional 70 kW, or approximately 94 horsepower, for 10 seconds. On higher trims, the Sport Response button can result in a boost of 140 kW, or 188 horsepower.
Which Porsche Models Have the Sport Response Button Feature?
Porsche infuses legendary road capability into a growing family of performance-oriented vehicles, ranging from iconic sports cars to family-friendly SUVs. As far as the Sport Response feature is concerned, it is only available in Porsche vehicles equipped with the Sport Chrono package. Porsche models that offer a Sport Chrono option include the Porsche 718, Porsche 911, Porsche Taycan, Porsche Panamera, and Porsche Macan.
The push-to-pass button provides an instant power boost to elevate the performance of your Porsche.
