How to Prepare Your Porsche for a Road Trip
For many, a Porsche road trip is the ultimate auto experience. That combination of performance, luxury, and the thrill of the open road just can’t be beat. But it’s important to ensure your Porsche is ready for the task.

Here are some tips for proper Porsche maintenance.
How to Prepare for a Road Trip with Proper Porsche Maintenance
Tires
The most important thing you can check before your road trip is your tires. First, check the overall tire condition. Look for any cracks, bulges, or depleted tread, and especially look for any uneven wear. Second, check your tire pressure. Make sure your tires are inflated to the recommended pressure. Third, don’t forget about the spare tire. Make sure it is inspected and filled to the proper PSI. Lastly, make sure you have your Porsche factory jack and handle, as well as a basic toolkit to change a tire if needed.
Fluids
Be sure to check and top off your engine oil, braking fluid, coolant, windshield washer fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid. Check to see that your engine oil is clean, and if your Porsche is due for an oil change, have one done.
Battery
Make sure your Porsche’s battery is in good health by testing its charge and checking for signs of corrosion around the battery terminals. Check the battery expiration date and consider replacing it if it is more than three years old.
Brakes
Brakes are important for your safety, especially on windy curves and downhill runs. Check your brake pads for thickness, rotors for groove or warping, or other indications of wear and consider replacing them accordingly. Squealing or grinding sounds when applying the brakes are sure signs that they need attention. If you are concerned about your brakes, we advise having a professional brake inspection done.
Lights and Wiper Blades
Lights and wiper blades are easy to check, but are often overlooked. Check your wiper blades to make sure they are supple and crack free. With a partner, do a complete check of your Porsche’s front, rear, and brake lights. Also make sure your turn signals are in working order.
Navigation
Make sure your Porsche’s navigation system is fully updated and check your route ahead of time on your infotainment system. Have a backup map app on your smartphone and bring some old-fashioned paper maps for those areas where you might be out of cell range.
Emergency Kit
Be sure to pack a roadside emergency kit that includes a tire repair kit, jumper cables, a basic toolkit, a flashlight, and roadside flares.
