Exploring Porsche Track Precision App: For Enthusiasts
If you’re looking for an easy way to improve your track performance, you need to check out the free Porsche Track Precision App (PTPA).

This smartphone application allows you to record and analyze your track data, with helpful suggestions for improvement. Today, we’re going to break down everything you need to know about this app.
What Vehicles Can Use the Porsche Track Precision App?
The track app is available for all Porsche 911 and 718 models produced from 2017 onwards (specifically after calendar week 45/2016). It’s also available for 2022 Cayenne, Panamera, and Taycan models. In order to use the app, vehicles require the Sport Chrono Package (which comes standard on many models) and a Porsche Connect Plus subscription.
The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You should take note that you’ll require at least iOS 14 or Android 8 to run the app. You can also display the app on the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Exploring PTPA Key Features
Real-Time Lap Timing
The app offers automatic lap timing functionality using GPS positioning. It can recognize more than 300 preloaded racetracks worldwide. If you’re on a track that isn’t already in the database, you can create a custom track using the app.
Data Logging and Visualization
The PTPA tracks over 30 performance-related parameters, including engine speed, G-forces, brake pressure, steering angle, and throttle position. After a recorded track session, you can visualize the data in several formats, including track maps, line graphs, and comparative charts. There are several tools that can be used to compare multiple laps from the same session, or even analyze laps from different sessions or different drivers.
You can also record videos of your session using your smartphone, an external camera such as a GoPro, or your Porsche Dashcam. The app will overlay the telemetry data onto the footage, which is particularly helpful for understanding the exact areas of the track where you can make improvements or changes.
Data Export and Sharing
You can share your track session data to social media apps, as well as other Porsche drivers who use the PTPA. You can also export your data for in-depth analysis using third-party telemetry tools.
Free Drive Mode
Porsche released a new Free Drive mode for the PTPA, which is available for select models in the 2024 model year and higher. This mode enables you to record data while on the road, rather than just on the track. It automatically recognizes notable moments and records a one-minute video (30 seconds before and 30 seconds after).
Take advantage of the PTPA to better understand and improve your driving performance. Contact Porsche Stevens Creek in Santa Clara, CA to learn more about this application.
